ACHIEVEMENTS OF KERALA FIRE & RESCUE SERVICES DEPARTMENT – YEAR 2013

Kerala Fire & Rescue Services Department had rescued 6957 human lives and 3800 animal lives. During the last five years in various Fire & Rescue operations, the value of properties saved from destruction comes to the tune of Rs. 2266.48 Crores. These facts indicate the significance and the value of the services rendered by this Department to the State and its people. A statement in this regard is given below:

Revenue earned by Fire & Rescue Services Department

In addition to this, invaluable service is rendered by this Department to earn revenue to the Government by way of standby duty charges, pumping charges, rental charges of ambulance services, fee for issuance of No Objection Certificate to the high rise buildings, industries, petrol bunks etc. under various Acts and Rules like Explosive Acts, Arms and Ammunition Rules, Kerala Municipalities Building Rules etc. The revenue earned during the last five years comes to Rs. 20.94 crores vide the Statement given below:

Utilization of Funds

Total equipments purchased during the financial year 2012-13 were for an amount of Rs.53.62 Lakhs, which includes.

a. Purchase of Vehicles & Equipments for Fire & Rescue Station Moolamattom for Rs.33,58,644/-
b. Purchase of Portable pump for Rs.20,03,750/-

New Fire & Rescue Stations

  • No new Fire & Rescue Station was opened in the previous year. Administrative Sanction was received for the creation of new posts and purchase of vehicles, equipment and furniture for the establishment of Fire & Rescue station, Moolamattom vide G.O.(MS) No.104/2012/Home; dtd. 11/04/2012. New building for Fire and Rescue Station, Tirur was constructed and inaugurated on 04.07.2013.
